Yellow. The color of friendship. It's so fitting that these flowers were given to me by a friend many, many years ago. They have since taken over one flower bed and have volunteered in another just this season. They have even harbored stray kitties over the years!
This is their season...they are in full bloom right now and are dominating the front yard with their beautiful deep yellow petals and crimson stripes. Alstroemeria are truly the harbingers of summer!
Happy Friday! Stay cool...over 90F predicted in PDX today!
The flap of the second monkey has been completed and heel turning is imminent!! Stay tuned for future developments!
It's gonna get hot people...really hot. In the nineties! That kind of heat demands wet fruit...I think these apricots fit the bill nicely, don't you? Juicy, juicy...yum!
On another note...L-B wrote me today about a horrible incident that occurred in Richmond, VA. You can read more about it here. If you'd like to sign an electronic petition protesting this abomination, you can do that here. Bulldozing a cat habitat should not be an option.
A single monkey is finished...
...and its mate started.
STR 'Faulty Dyer' in medium weight. I heart this color!
My mom has the most spectacular garden! It's truly a feast of colors and textures that keeps one intrigued and delighted with every step and turn. Her roses are amazing! She has such fun going to the market and picking out just the right plant for just the right spot! She nurtures all her "babies" with such care that they have no choice but to bloom and grow with the utmost exuberance! You can certainly see where my sister inherited her green thumbs.
I got a surprise in the mail on Monday! Some goodies from my friend Linda (who is still blogless, despite extreme pressure...resistance is futile girlie!).
This stunning skein is from The Barefoot Spinner.
Check out these fall colors...This fibery goodness is a blend of mohair and wool from Persimmon Tree Farm. Can't you just smell the leaves burning with a hint of steaming cocoa wafting in the air? Sigh...at the time of this writing there are just over 95 days until the first day of autumn, and well...yes...I realize the first day of summer hasn't even arrived yet! L-B, do you have my back on this one? :)
And check out the bag...it's pink!!! I heart it!!!
That stitch marker is absolutely perfect!! Even Mr. NK thought it was cute!!
Thank you Linda!!! :)
I spent the day at the zoo last Saturday on a photoshoot with my sister. Two memory cards later I had a multitude of images. By special request :) here are just a few.
A wise old owl leads the pack.
This little guy was way too cute!
I was so taken with my pixels, I had forgotten it was WWKIP day...I even saw two knitters as we were leaving the giraffe exhibit; it didn't dawn on me until later that they were probably celebrating WWKIP day at the zoo...I should've snapped them in action!
One of two bald eagles that were rescued, and now live here.
Here kitty, kitty!
An old wolf stays cool in the shade.
An egret, looking askance at his reflection.
This dude gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "evil eye"!
Back to knitterly pursuits tomorrow!! Happy Wednesday!
What is more refreshing on a warm summer day than fresh nectarines, plums, peaches...and picots!!
Yep! A monkey sock is on the needles. It has been at least three pairs of Teosintes, two Garden Path socks and numerous RSC kits since I last knit a monkey sock! Any bets on how many I'll knit before moving on to something else?? :)
