Neuf Knitting
Who's that new kid on the needles?
Clearly the picot edge is ruling this summer's knitting.
Here's a better view....
Correct! Spring Forward socks...however, in this beautiful STR Brick color I have dubbed them "Fall Back" socks! You know how I love autumn!!
Not to worry though...the Monkey sock wagon is still going strong here at Chez NK...we aren't quite done with them for this season! :)

Friday's Flowers: Red
I just had to pepper the lily images with these gorgeous red dragonflies! Our garden has been a hotspot for them after we had some trees removed. They sit on these bamboo posts (which are actually stakes for the tomato plants, which will hopefully be red before summer's end!) and bask in the sun all afternoon into early evening. Most of them are pretty friendly and let me snap away...others are a bit shy but eventually agree to having their picture taken! You know the secret phrase here at chez NK..."If it isn't red, it just isn't!"
Happy Friday!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Field to Needles
Yep. Pair number 3. Of Monkey socks, that is! This pair is knit from "Watermelon" by Claudia Handpaints. This yarn was a lovely gift from L-B! Thank you again L-B :)
The market to table diptych challenge on Flickr inspired this post!
Don't stand on ceremony...dig in!

Moody blue eyes
I finished the first Moody Blues Monkey sock on Sunday afternoon whilst knitting with "the girls"! I heart this color...I might even have to splurge and buy another skein of the same color...just to have on hand...just in case I need a second pair of socks in...well, yes...the same color!! LOL!
And while at my yearly eye exam yesterday, I started this between being dilated, poked and prodded in the eyeballs for 2 hours:
I only dropped one stitch working the closure at the picot edge.
Things that make you go "hmmm": The eye technician checks the vision on my right eye, I struggle, but I seem to get it. She then checks the vision on the left eye. Using the same letter arrangement. I get it. She is amazed at the improvement in my left eye over the right. I explain that yes, my vision is better in my left eye, but I had the letters memorized from the previous exam and was able to more easily decide which letter was displayed because of it, AND that it wasn't a very well controlled exam. She then remarks on my great memory. It's only 5 letters...I'm not that far gone! Why don't they scramble the letter sequence so "learning" doesn't play a part in it? At any rate, I seemed to pass all the tests, including glamour shots of my optic nerve! 'Til next year!
What a perfect seque to this lovely pair of eyes
Happy Wednesday!!

Sock pool
What do you think a white bowl has to do with knitting??
It's my blocking chamber!!! It was a scorcher of a weekend and a perfect time to block the Faulty Dyer Monkey socks!
Much knitting was achieved while watching Battlestar Galactica.
Even more fun, was hanging out with friends over frozen lemonade and iced tea!
Yep. Old friends and new...Jen, Carrie and Christy and I had the pleasure of hooking up on Sunday while Carrie was in town visiting. We shopped, knit, laughed, and had a grand time! Ladies, I'm looking forward to a redo!!
And the socks...how did they turn out?!
Picot perfect!

Friday's Flowers: Roadside Attractions
“What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
There is an old fashioned country road near us that I have been walking along in the mornings. It is quiet and well endowed with fields of grasses and various animals. As I walked, I noticed a plethora of flora along the side of the road. Mostly "weeds". I thought of the above quote as I walked, and decided to come back one evening with camera in hand and try to capture the "virtues" of this roadside garden.
Happy Friday everyone! Have a great weekend!

The Ultimate Wheel
I so wanted to photograph this wheel on display at the Museum of Contemporary Craft in PDX, but didn't receive permission from the gallery. You can see more of Andy Paiko's work here.
If you are in the downtown area and can swing by to see this wheel, it is truly phenomenal. And with a price tag of over $22,000 it will not go home with just anyone. It makes a Golding wheel seem affordable, yes?
Happy Friday eve!!!

Contemplating Blue
Hmmm...what could Gibson be contemplating?
The progress on the monkey sock...or the food?
Trust me...it's the food!!
Happy Wednesday!
