winter blues

That's the kind of blues I'm talking about!

The Holidazed socks are donedonedone!!!

Two more socks can be added to the YTD tally!

Our holidays were great...quiet...we spent some time with family and friends...

...and lots of knitting and photog were happening.

All kinds of goodness graced our days!

And check out that wonderful sunlight!!

Blue color is everlastingly appointed by the Deity to be a source of delight.

happy winter!

Today is the first day of winter! Time to pull out ALL the woolies!!

It's not enough to have the appropriate outer wear...

...one must consider "inner wear", as well...

Hot cocoa with fresh homemade marshmallows go a long way to keeping one toasty warm and content on a cold winter's day!!

A piping hot bowl of hungarian mushroom soup doesn't hurt.

Last, but not least...socks. Lots of socks!

I think I'm covered...inside and out!!

How 'bout you?

rain chasers

This most adorable nest decorated one of the packages of goodies I ordered from Lisa. Her little boy made it. Is it not the sweetest little nest you've ever seen? I heart it to pieces.

I am racing against time to match my 60 sock record from last year.

Cast-on-itis is the word of the month!!

This pair of socks is one of my favorite patterns; it's Anne's 'Holidazed' pattern that she designed for RSC for November 2009 oops, that would be 2008! Thanks, Cristi!

They're being knit in STR 'Blue Brick Wall'.
A lovely dash of color to brighten these rainy days.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in
vain.

on the fence

It was a cold, cold weekend here in the Pacific Northwest. A mighty good reason to stay indoors and knit!

This kind of frost is just gorgeous, and enticed me to get outdoors.

Twice.

photo assignment: portraits sans faces

This is the last of the photography workshops hostessed by Camilla and Carolyn.

The assignment for this week was to take some portraits of others sans faces, and some of oneself in the mirror and in front of the camera.

Not only is this a challenge on so many levels, my photog helper (the one with the opposable thumbs) was out of town. What's a girl to do? I hit the archives.

First up the mirror shots...these were taken while in Tacoma. I loved the background and the window light was awesome...it just poured into the room.

Uh-oh...who's that interloper?? :)

I like hand shots as I think they tell so much about a person without including their face.

Although his face is in this one...it is nicely blurred and I think his expression adds to the story.

And yes...his creation tasted as good as his expression anticipated!

Speaking of blurring...some of my favorite shots of people are to just blur them completely. So not really "sans faces"...you really don't see the detail, but if you know them, you know who they are.

I leave you with this shot as a place holder for a future shot of the real me. It pretty much sums me up...but I'd like to think of myself as a little more 3-D than this...and of course the color in my hair is a little wan here! LOL!!

These assignments have been a blast! And I have so enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing how we all approached the same assignment. More importantly, I am checking in on everyone's blogs during the week to see what interesting things they are up to and what's going on in their lives. New friends...always a good thing!

It sounds like Camilla and Carolyn might do a little more online hostessing next spring. Count me in!! Thank you C and C for taking this on!

Please check out the assignments posted by the other participants.
