This Friday we're visiting the archives for a trip to Woodland, WA and the Hulda Klager lilac garden.
We went there quite awhile ago and I only used one or two of the images thus far...needless to say, I have many more. I'm holding a few back just in case I need to whip out a post on short notice! :)
Many of the original buildings are still on the property,
including the family home, which is intact and has many of the residents' clothes and other items on display. The rooms are very small, fairly dark, and there were a lot of people milling around, so it was very, very challenging to get a good picture.
But on to the gardens, and the real subject of this week's FF post. The lilacs.
I've never seen so many different lilacs in one place. Hulda Klager grew, hybridized and tended to all this plant material through floods and all sorts of trying times. You can read more about her here.
In addition to a plethora of lilacs, there are other flowers, too...
okokokok...back to the lilacs.
I think that's it for now.
What are you doing for fun this weekend? We're hanging out and catching up with ourselves...i.e. knitting, photography, maybe a movie and a trip to the local farmers market.
I hope your weekend is fabulous!! xo
When lilacs last in the door-year bloom'd,
And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night,
I mourn'd--
and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.

Beautiful Lilacs!
I've made some pictures in the garden ;)
Happy weekend!
Glorious...your images gives a feel of nostagia and yesteryear.
I can almost smell the lovely lilacs in the gardens...Glad I stopped by for this inspiring and peaceful visit.
Nice photos, I especially liked the fairy fountain and the peony which I would have thought a tulip if you hadn't said. But what really intrigued me was the mirror set as I have a few pieces just like it that were my grandma's! She was probably from the same era...born 1888.
What a prettiness, love lilacs.
Lilacs are possibly my favorite flower - I love the scent and these photos are so unique. I especially love that 2nd one! Thanks for brightening my Friday!
lovely lilacs-- the camera tilt on the pic #3 is compelling-- fun to see water dripping at an angle like that.
A whole garden devoted just to lilacs! I swoon... : )
My least favorite time of year is spring in Minnesota. People start claiming "SPRING IS HERE" in March and this is followed by a month and a half of muddy, snowy, barren, dismal, brown, lifeless days.
I truly feel like spring has sprung when the lilac smell is in the air. THAT is springtime and that spring only lasts as long as the lilacs bloom. Then it's onto the dog days of summer . . . which I LOOoooooooove!
Gorgeous, soft, delicate pictures.
